This series was inspired by my life long fascination with stamps and the designs and variations that transcend time and space.  Stamps are a statement of a Country’s character, ideals and aspirations and the values expressed are both literal and suggestive and can seem arbitrarily assigned.  As I explored this idea deeper I began to see that Stamps parallel the artist’s journey.  Just as Stamps can be cancelled (both meanings) mutilated, collected, and reused and where the whole is equal to more than the sum of it parts, so are the ideas of the artist as they emerge and evolve.  This series combines careful design with the pure pleasure of free flowing paint, while dealing with issues of scale, spatial, conceptual, technical, and aesthetic theory.
